From Harvest to Big Bag: Dehulling, Washing and Drying in a Single Line

From harvest to big bag, with no intermediate manual steps.

The Integral Line Model M processes walnut from field discharge to big-bag filling through dehulling, double washing, inspection, oven drying, and packaging. The largest line in the dehulling catalog: 17 integrated machines in continuous flow, designed for cooperatives and packers who want to close the processing chain under their own roof.

17 integrated machines, five sectors in continuous flow:

A — Reception and pre-cleaning

  • Reception Vat (Lagar) with buffer capacity for direct field discharge (truck or bins).
  • Vat Elevator dosing the flow toward pre-cleaning.
  • Rotary Pre-cleaner — hexagonal cylinder with drawn-square rods spaced 20 mm apart that removes leaves, sticks and stones before washing, protecting the downstream machinery.

B — Washing and dehulling

  • Rotation Washer that softens the husk and separates adhered soil in a first controlled cycle.
  • Rotary Washer (Ø1,200 cylinder) with full-cone sprayers: second intensive cleaning cycle.
  • Rotary Huller — similar in philosophy to the American It-Hulls equipment — removes the green husk via a rotary brush with steel bristles, with a pneumatic-shock height-control system.

C — Manual inspection

  • Inspection Conveyor with adjustable speed and side platforms so operators can work comfortably and remove out-of-spec walnut before drying.

D — Oven drying

  • Elevator to Ovens taking the washed and inspected walnut to the drying sector.
  • Modular Distribution Conveyor to Ovens distributing the flow among the oven modules.
  • Oven Module with Platform: individual ovens with elevated platforms for inspection and maintenance. Modular: the plant starts with the required number of modules for its volume and can grow.
  • Burner providing the drying heat under thermal control.
  • Oven Extraction Conveyor collecting the dried walnut at the end of the cycle.
  • Belt Collection Conveyor consolidating the flow from the different oven lines before packaging.

E — Packaging and reject handling

  • Big-Bag Filling System integrated with the final output — the dried walnut falls directly into the big bag without intermediate handling.
  • Trough Conveyor for Rejects collecting material rejected during inspection.
  • Waste Elevator lifting the reject for dispatch outside the line.
  • Dehulling Assembly (overview): render of the assembly showing how the 16 individual machines integrate into the complete architecture.

Construction and sanitary philosophy:

Frames and structures in SAE 1010 mild steel with anticorrosive primer and polyurethane enamel finish — proven ruggedness for the abrasive dehulling environment. Sectors in direct contact with wet product (washers, hopper) in stainless steel with sanitary polish. Ovens with thermally-insulated combustion chambers. Drives with oil-bath gearmotors and fully shielded three-phase motors.
